Welp, another Nigella recipe. It turned out okay, I guess. Kind of like Black Bean Chili. I was imagining a Panera-style black bean soup. But it was not. The beans didn't get cooked all the way through. But overall not too shabby.
One cool thing is that I got to put some hot stuff in a blender. That was fun. One time I got to do that in an Indian recipe and it created this magical sauce that I had always wondered how to make when I saw it at real Indian restaurants. And then suddenly I knew and felt all-powerful, like I had just cracked the code to an entire ethnicity's food culture. Bahaha.
Haha, here's another blogger's attempt at the same recipe (Sarah Discovers How to Eat). Her pictures look similar to mine. Sweet. At least I was on the right track.
My finger got sliced by that knife by the bowl in the last pic. It's on my index finger too, so it kills. Stupid knife. I bought that one and another at Walmart, trying to buy the most expensive (like $7) so they wouldn't suck but the other paring knife just broke in two while I was carving a pumpkin yesterday and this one just recently turned against me. Bastard knives.
