Post-Postmodernism

To The Best of Our Knowledge: "Post-Postmodernism: Are We There Yet?"
- a place where the real and the imaginary had not yet been sequestered into different countries

Three kinds of postmodernism from Amy Elias (Prof. at UTennesee)
(1) epistemological postmodernism: Lyotard, a way of understanding the self and the world. A reaction to enlightenment and modernity. A way of knowing the world that cannot be explained by the scientific method. (called postmodernity)
(2.) sociocultural postmodernism: post-1945 in capitalist western nations. Suburbia. Baudrillard. globalization. the media, entertainment.
(3.) Aesthetic postmodernism: what happened in the art world in reaction to modernism. Mixing of high and low art.
*a desire for anyone to distinguish their own time - to name it. to find intelligent or cool ways to talk about what is going on - how the world has changed.

Christian Lander:
"an important part of being white is making fun of yourself."
- "post-wealth": generation of people who still have the drive their parents or grandparents had to compete in the working place now compete with their peers in any chosen area (environmentalism, authenicity in life)
- rejected topics: "Mayonnaise" "Stuff White People Like"
